5 out of 5 stars Love the Orange Button ...   February 3, 2008
9 out of 10 found this review helpful

Being the owner of several different types of speakers for laptops and iPod's. Thus far, this unit, as a stand alone is my favorite, and for these reasons:

1) The Orange Button on the side. It gives you a clear indication as to whether the sound is on or not, so no unnecessary blasting your face off and wondering where the volume is at when the music kicks in.

2) The sleek design is cool enough to warrant the device to be used as a stand alone unit on my kitchen counter. It doesn't stand out or need a foolish amount of wires to plug it in to the computer and the wall, unlike my JBL speaker set which can double as a clothesline or belay lines up Everest.

3) The incremental volume control is sensitive enough so that you can actually fade the music out if need be instead of hearing a drop off when you're trying to listen to something incredibly quiet. Like in the middle of the night, for instance, when everyone else is asleep and you want to hear Marvin Gaye or something. No problem.

4) No installation of anything at all. Wow! Amazing concept. I'm tired of installing drivers and unnecessary software for the most simplest devices these days. I plugged it in via USB and viola ... done. Didn't even require a manual.

5) The sound that the little unit feeds throughout the room is quite impressive and when strategically placed could probably replace a larger system for casual listening.

6) Wide enough to do what it says it can, judging from the picture on the box. I have a 17" screen and it does fit nicely behind it and the speakers slide out 2 inches on each side if necessary if you need to adjust it.

7) I didn't need the extra attachment that came with the unit as I have no intent on ever using a web cam.

8) Also, I'm not going to use it as pictured, and I don't think placing the unit behind my screen, giving me stereo sound, was necessary - as the unit a few feet away provided more sound than anyone could ask for from such a small unit.

9) This unit is good for a consumer level usage, students, casual internet surfers and folks wanting to listen to music from their laptop without an obtrusive set-up.

10) The unit also provides three extra (powered) USB ports which do come in handy.

11) I'm using this speaker system in conjunction with my Dell Inspiron 1721 Laptop with a 17" screen.

Very cool unit indeed.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Sound Quality   March 4, 2008

I have the cheapest Dell laptop available and although it works really well, the volume through the speakers is fairly low. If I'm watching a movie, or something that requires good audio, this becomes a problem -- or used to, until I got the Logitech AudioHub Notebook Speakers. They are a little on the heavy side, but they're very easy to install and use (practically plug and play) and the audio quality is amazing, especially considering the price.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Speaker System for a Notebook Computer   February 20, 2008

I got the Logitech AudioHub Notebook Speakers to use on my 15-inch laptop, since the built in computer speakers are not-so-good. The AudioHub speakers arrived very well packaged with almost every surface was covered with protective plastic.

The speakers are easy to set up and use. They require external power, so they must be plugged into the wall. I connected it to my computer with the included USB cable and in about twenty seconds, the speakers were working.

The speaker has a big, light-up orange volume knob on the side. The size of the speakers is adjustable, so they will fit behind bigger sized notebooks. Also, there are three extra USB ports on the side, which is a nice added feature. The speakers even come with an included stand for attaching a web cam, but this stand can be easily removed if not used.

The sound of the speakers is impressively good. I was surprised with how good the sound was, considering the price and size of the speakers. Overall, these speakers are an excellent audio solution for a notebook computer.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Sound Quality and Extra USB Ports   June 25, 2008

I just took these speakers out of the box, plugged the USB cable using the included USB extender into my laptop, plugged in its power supply and then turned on my laptop. It automatically set itself up and started working. I must admit that I was amazed at how rich the sounds are that come out of this speaker system.

I had video of a lecture that I could not hear at full volume on my laptop. But now it is like listening to the lecture live with a good quality sound system. And I only have the volume at the 20% level. Even at full volume, which is now much to loud, there is no distortion or hiss. I am very happy to have these.

The AudioHub speaker system features an adjustable one-piece, three-chamber speaker system with an integrated subwoofer. You are able to adjust the speakers position so that they clear the sides of your laptop screen. The volume control/mute button on the AudioHub is lit so you always no when it is not muted. And the mute button turns off the sound without cutting power to the integrated USB hub, which has three built-in Hi-Speed USB ports. So you use one USB port for the speakers and have a two USB port net gain.

5 out of 5 stars Cool Sounds in Cold Motel Rooms   February 17, 2008

When I bought my iMac I paid the extra money and got one in black, because it just looked oh so cool. Besides, I was getting tired of toting around a glossy white laptop, I needed a change. However, like most laptops, the speakers in my iMac suck big time and that's sad for the music I like to come out of it when I'm on the road. I do a lot of writing in motel rooms and those tinny, tiny speakers don't really cut it and for some reason I can't write a lick with headphones on, jog yes, write no.

So, when I got these speakers I was kind of jazzed. Yes, it's one more thing for me to load up into my little car when I hit the highway, but they are worth the effort. I set them up behind my machine, plug in my shorty USB cable and sound-wise I'm good to go. I really like how I can adjust the speakers so that they peak perfectly around the sides of my machine. Black speakers, black iMac, ascetically they were made for each other.

Yes, they don't sound as good as my Bose Wave Radio or the JBL Studio Monitors I have at home, but they sound plenty good to me. Now when I sit down to write those thousand words I try to pull out of myself everyday I rock out to great dinosaur music, Bob Dylan when he was hot, you know Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61 revisited. The Beatles and Stones, Zep too, all sound mighty fine now in cold and sterile motel rooms as I write away. I just love these speakers.
